Manufacturing Process of 24oz Single-Wall Paper Cups

The manufacturing of cups begins with the selection of food-grade paperboard rolls. These blank sheets are wrapped into cylindrical forms and sealed using heat or adhesives. The bottom base of the cups is inserted and locked with precision to ensure there is no leak, and the cup can withstand heavy liquids. Coatings and other add-ons are also applied to the cups to make them resistant to grease and water.

Material Processing

A food-grade paperboard with a GSM of 250 to 320 is used to manufacture custom-printed cups. This material is strong and sustainable. We obtain the material from virgin wood pulp or recycled paperboard to ensure safety and stiffness. The material is a multi-layer fiber that provides strength and rigidity against liquid pressure.

Coatings To Strengthen Material

Coatings create a moisture-resistant barrier inside the cups and prevent the paper from softening. No matter how durable the material we have been using, the use of coatings is mandatory. There are two types that we use:

Polyethylene Coating

These are cost-effective and highly resistant coatings. Polyethylene can be used for all drinks, whether cold or hot. One drawback of using this coating is that it is unsustainable and needs separation technology before recycling.

Polylactic Acid Coating

This coating is derived from renewable corn starch and is a sustainable option. It has water and grease resistance similar to polyethylene. However, polylactic acid coating is compostable under industrial conditions. The drawback with coating is that it is only suitable for cold beverages, such as a custom compostable cold cup.

Aqueous Coating

Aqueous coating enhances the water resistance but keeps the material recyclable. This coating is FDA appproed and is food grade. Just line polyethylene coating, this coating can be used for hot and cold beverages.

After quality issues with the first production run, a reproduction was agreed upon, yet communication nearly disappeared. Deadlines slipped repeatedly with no updates or accountability. To make matters worse, I was misled by my "sales executive" claiming to be the manager when he wasn’t, delaying my ability to reach someone who could actually resolve the problems. When I finally contacted the real manager, I was ignored until I posted a public review. After more than two months of delays, poor communication, and misrepresentation, the only resolution offered was a refund. For anyone expecting professionalism, reliability, or transparency, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. The frustration and wasted time simply aren’t worth it.
